We sell our 2 to 2 ½ year old bison, harvesting from October through November. You can reserve your bison with us by providing a down payment at any time during the year. Plan on receiving your meat in the late fall or early winter.
After harvesting, we skin and gut the bison and allow it to hang for 5-7 days prior to delivering it to the butcher of your choice. While we can provide recommendation on our preferred local Alaskan butchers, their current workload and process timing is out of our hands. They will communicate with you directly on what their current schedule looks like, so you know when to pick up your freezer-ready packaged meat after processing.
We charge $4,500 per bison. While we only sell whole animals and no meat by the pound, it's common for two individuals or families to split an animal. We require a $500 non-refundable deposit to reserve your bison. This will be applied toward the total cost. There is no additional cost for delivering to the butcher as long as your preferred butcher is within 50 miles of Palmer.
Our bison have an average hanging weight of 500 pounds, with a general variance of 50 pounds. Hanging weight is the weight after skinning and gutting, but still includes bones that the butcher will remove.
The butchers are a separate business and will have their own service and processing fees outside of our $4,500 cost for the animal. Butchers will range in price and abilities, we have no control over theirs costs or quality.
